Only a short handful of years ago small producers in Huehuetenango often had to sell their coffees in the local markets at bargain basement prices and with all their hard work being lost in thousands of other coffee lots. Around 5 years ago Luis Pedro Zelaya Zemora of Bella Vista mill started projects in communities around Huehuetenango to purchase parchment directly from these small producers and get them in the hands of those who will truly appreciate the amazing microlots that were coming out of small villages. Canoguitas is named after the Canoguitas family that grows and contributes much of the coffee in this small producer blend. The Canoguitas family and surrounding friends grow their coffee in the Ixban are of San Jacinto.
